Too wet and cool for planting in Wisconsin

Wisconsin’s recent wet and windy weather ensured a slow start to fieldwork for the 2026 growing season. Ohio crops benefit from improved soil moisture conditions

Recent rainfall has helped recharge soil moisture in parts of Ohio.  The USDA says topsoil moisture is 97 percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is 83 percent adequate to surplus.  Five percent of oats in Ohio are planted. Soybeans were modestly higher on short covering and technical buying. Corn planting underway in Kansas

Corn planting is starting to pick up steam across Kansas. The USDA says 4 percent of the crop is in, one percent ahead of last year. Winter wheat condition is rated 71 percent fair-to-good with 5 percent excellent. Topsoil moisture is 38 percent adequate to surplus, and subsoil moisture is 43 percent adequate to surplus.
