Sioux Central Baseball Team Extends Winning Streak

A six-run 2nd inning helped Sioux Central to a 9-1 win against West Bend Mallard this Friday evening in Gilmore City. The Rebels sent ten batters to the plate in the 2nd, which include a two-RBI single by Jake Hargens. Sioux Central add a run in the 5th on a sacrifice fly by Carter Boettcher, and two more in the 7th as Ethan Mills and Konnor McKeever had RBI hits. Sentence Upheld for Woman Who Damaged Dakota Access Pipeline

The U-S Court of Appeals has upheld the eight-year prison sentence given to a woman in 2021 after she admitted to damaging the Dakota Access Pipeline Jessica Reznicek pleaded guilty to conspiracy to damage an energy facility after admitting to vandalism in Buena Vista, Mahaska and Wapello County that included taking a blowtorch to the pipeline. Reznicek argued she was motivated by saving the environment, and the district court erred by classifying her actions as terrorism.
